Southport Runners and Walkers
Welcome to the Southport Runners and Walkers Club. The club was formed in January 2004 to fill a void at the Northern end of the Gold Coast. Southport Runners and Walkers is informal and very casual and friendly in its approach to running and walking.
Be Part of Our Community
The club meets every Sunday at Southport. All ages and abilities are catered for with distances from 5 km through to 20 kms, or longer during the lead-up to the marathon.
Different courses are set each week, usually north or south along the picturesque Broadwater and sometimes taking the Federation Walk up to the Seaway.
Many members compete in the Gold Coast Marathon Day events with many of their family members and friends competing in the 5km walk, 10km run, half marathon and full marathon.
There is a small annual fee for Club Membership. Each week we provide fresh fruit for all our runners and we ask for a gold coin donation each time you run or if you are a visitor, to cover the cost of this fruit. All monies collected go back to the members, a free BBQ is held every month or six weeks. During the summer months we start as close to 6.30am as possible and in the winter 7.00am is the preferred start time. You will be made most welcome from like minded people who enjoy physical activity followed by fresh fruits, coffee and toast etc. What a way to start your Sunday and so Very G.C……! PS: CASUAL VISITORS AND HOLIDAY MAKERS ARE MOST WELCOME.
